Leicester City shirt sponsor BC.Game has closed its UK site amid a regulatory battle surrounding its flagship Curaçao-licensed crypto casino.

According to a message to customers seen by NEXT.io, the site had not been accepting new registrations since 14 November 2024.

This was two days after its holding company was declared bankrupt in a Curaçao court, an event which resulted in the island’s regulator making the rare decision of moving to revoke its gaming licence.

The site is now offline, and displays a message outlining that it is no longer available to either new or existing customers.

This takes place on the same day the brand was due to meet with Curaçao regulators to offer reasons why the company’s licence should not be withdrawn.

The outcome of that meeting is not known, although NEXT.io sources have said it is unlikely BC.Game will ultimately keep its licence.

The operator added that all funds have been returned to players via back to their last deposit method and that it is in contact with any remaining users to arrange the return of their money.

BC.Game was licensed to operate in the UK via a white label agreement with TGP Europe.

Has Leicester City FC dropped BC.Game as a sponsor?

The white label agreement had allowed BC.Game to sign a two-year shirt sponsorship agreement with Leicester City FC in the summer, in accordance with UK advertising rules.

Despite the announcement of the operator’s bankruptcy, the Premier League football club had reiterated its support for its embattled sponsor earlier in a statement published last week.

A spokesperson said: “BC.Game have further assured us that they have no issues with liquidity and that they remain fully committed to meeting their ongoing contractual and financial obligations, including to the club, and that this case will not impact on BC.Game’s continuing international operations.”

If the licence revocation moves forward, NEXT.io understands this may leave BC.Game without a licence for its flagship crypto casino, which could affect the company’s access to financing and ability to open bank accounts.

Leicester’s statement has now been deleted from the football club’s website.

The closure of BC.Game’s UK-facing casino now puts the future of the deal in jeopardy, with it now being unclear if the agreement is in compliance with the law.

NEXT.io understands BC.Game is currently applying for a new gaming licence with the South Pacific island of Vanuatu.

It follows the operator being named in a 400-page report by auditor and opposition politician Dr. Luigi Faneyte, which made sweeping allegations about the country’s licensing reform process.

These included inappropriate links between some figures involved in the regulatory process and BC.Game.

In a statement provided to NEXT.io, the Curaçao Gaming Control Board strongly denied the allegations and emphasised the probity of the island’s gambling reforms.
